Astro 5.2 is here! The first minor release of 2025 brings exciting updates, including support for Tailwind CSS v4.0, perfect for those wanting to use the latest version of the popular styling framework.

What’s new with Astro 5.2

  • 💨 Tailwind CSS v4.0 Support: Native support for Tailwind CSS v4 through the @tailwindcss/vite plugin, simplifying integration.

  •  📈 Trailing Slash Redirects: Automatic URL structure redirection based on your trailingSlash configuration, improving SEO and user experience.

  • 🔀 External Redirects: Ability to define external redirects directly in the Astro configuration with destination URLs and status codes.

  • 🧰 TOML Frontmatter in Markdown: Support for TOML frontmatter syntax in Markdown files, offering an alternative to YAML for metadata.

Experimental Features

Additionally, Astro 5.2 includes new experimental features like access to runtime configuration via astro:config and the ability to disable React's streaming feature for finer control over component rendering.
