This week in Astro ☄️

Astro is ready for Actions

Astro 4.15 released ⚡️

Astro 4.15 introduces several key updates and improvements, with the highlight being that Astro Actions are now officially stable.

Astro Actions 🎬

Astro Actions empowers developers to create type-safe backend functions directly in Astro projects with minimal boilerplate code, making it easier to define API routes or custom functions.

Astro Actions also supports automatic TypeScript types, ensuring everything stays type-safe without extra effort.

For more information and usage examples, check out the new Actions guide.

libSQL remotes in Astro DB + more 🛰️

Beyond Astro Actions, Astro 4.15 also introduces support for libSQL remotes in Astro DB, a timeout option for client:idle, and more customization for ViewTransitions.

Optimize images with Cloudinary 🌟

Astro may be the best framework for creating the fastest websites, but that doesn’t mean improperly loading images can’t still affect page speed.

In this video, Jason Lengstorf explores how to optimize image delivery using the Unpic Image component alongside Cloudinary.

Astro Console Cleaner 🧹

Astro Console Cleaner is a simple but useful Astro integration by Zach Handley that removes console.log, console.warn, and console.error statements from your production code during the build process.
