Astro announces partnership with Netlify 🤝

Astro has announced Netlify as its Official Deployment Partner, enhancing collaboration and adding new features for Astro developers.

As the Official Deployment Partner, Netlify will sponsor $12,500 monthly to support Astro's open-source maintenance and development.

This partnership will also see Astro and Netlify collaborate on the upcoming Server Islands feature to enhance user experience on Netlify. Further exciting updates on Server Islands are detailed below.

Netlify also announced several more initiatives as part of its #AstroWeek.

Astro release Server Islands 🏝️

If you’re eager to dive into Server Islands, you're in luck—experimental support has already arrived with the release of Astro 4.12.

This latest update brings a new dimension to Astro's capabilities, expanding the innovative "islands architecture" introduced in 2021, which enabled developers to create web pages with mostly static content and incorporate interactive client-side components as needed.

Server Islands extend the concept of this architecture to the server side. This enhancement enables a seamless blend of high-performance static HTML with dynamic, server-generated components.

Spotify + Astro Server Islands 🎧

Experimental Server Islands may have only just been released, but that hasn't stopped Astronauts from getting creative.

AI ChatBot with Astro, Ollama + Vercel AI 🤖
